Evelyn

This Autumn, My mum, brother and I, will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising funds for Abigail’s footsteps.

We are running this in honour of our beautiful Evelyn in hope to raise enough funds to purchase a cold cot in her name so another family are lucky enough to spend precious time with their baby.

Evelyn was born on October 10th 2021 at 40+2 weeks looking absolutely beautiful. After a perfect start my sister’s pregnancy she announced our new family member after getting the all clear at the 12 week scan. Sadly at the 20 week scan we were informed that our beautiful girl had multicystic kidneys. We had 2 weekly scans and at 34 weeks were sent to St Thomas's for a MRI as there was hope of a duplex(third) kidney hiding behind the cystic one as she was doing so well! This is when our world came crashing down. The MRI showed no duplex kidney and infact she wasn't well like hoped from ultrasound. This unfortunately lead to her lungs not developing enough to survive in the outside world the only reason she was still going was due to the placenta. My sister made the decision to finish her pregnancy and let nature take its course hoping Evelyn could also be an organ donor and continue to live on in others. As a family we made memories with our beautiful girl that will stay with us for a lifetime. After five and half hours our lovely girl took her last breath in my sister’s arms surrounded by so much love. All she knew was our love for her. Im incredibly grateful for Abigals footsteps as is my whole family. They also provided a self contained flat within the hospital so we all got so much more time laying and cuddling my beautiful girl. I will never forget that time.
