#TeamLC are raising money to help support all those who have been affected by a blood cancer diagnosis, by running 26.2 miles at the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2026.

Story

In March of 2021 our family was stunned by the shock diagnosis that my dad had Leukaemia and would have to start aggressive treatment immediately. Despite the celebratory news of remission in October, another shock diagnosis of a new strain of Leukaemia lead to the devastating passing of our Dad in December of that year. The turbulent and strenuous battle which our family had to endure within that 9 month period was one which no family should have to face and yet is seemingly much too common.

My Dad was characterised by his overwhelmingly loving demeanour, fostering and nurturing various familial and friendship support networks from diverse walks of life, and thus in this time of crisis it seemed as though he had the world pining for his recovery, yet I recognise that not everyone can be this lucky. My Dad was a kind and generous man, going the extra mile to help those in need, from supporting various charities monthly, putting many individuals onto the career ladder and supporting people as if they were his own son or daughter, his love and loyalty knew no boundaries. As my Dad would always say, his girls (my mother, my sister and I) are his greatest achievement, I’d like his claim to ring true as I run the London marathon in his honour, giving back to those suffering with this horrendous disease who may not be as lucky as Dad to be surrounded by such unwavering love and support.

I have therefore joined #TEAMLC to run the London Marathon 2026. Please help me to support everyone affected by a blood cancer diagnosis in the UK.Leukaemia Care is a national charity dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support. Around 34,000 people are affected by blood cancer each year in the UK and we're here to support them through their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
