We help children born without eyes to reach their potential and enjoy life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year, 90 families in the UK will be told their babies have no eyes, small eyes, or a cleft in the eye. Many of them will have additional needs or other health challenges. Some will be told there’s no hope that their child will ever see. They may feel hopeless and alone - but they are not alone and there is hope.
MACS is the UK's national charity for children born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes. They help over 2500 people across the UK, supporting them at each stage of their journey by providing peer support, practical help and opportunities to take part in life-changing activity trips.

Our son Rohan was born with no vision in his left eye. He has vision in his right eye but we are still learning about what his condition will mean for him. I remember vividly how helpless and broken I felt in hearing they couldn't do anything for him to correct his sight, but we are just one family of so many that are affected by many different visual impairments. This past year fundraising has been tough for so many charities, especially smaller charities. I wanted to do something to raise funds for this charity so that they can help other families get the support and help they need at a really difficult time.

I decided to set myself the target of running 1000 miles this year to help raise some money for this amazing charity. Just to give you an idea of what that will mean, last year I ran just over half that mileage....... And I like to run! So it's going to mean a pretty big increase in miles and it's also going to mean I need to be dedicated and run consistently throughout the year. I need to run 20 miles a week minimum.
