Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Following the birth of my son Arthur in August 2019, I developed the early stages of Postpartum Psychosis when Arthur was only a few weeks old. I was admitted to a Mother and Baby Unit on 9 November 2019 in Birmingham, a week later I was then transferred to another Mother and Baby Unit closet to home in Chorley.

On admission to the Mother and Baby Unit the symptoms of psychosis subsided really quickly because I was medicated properly and in a safe place. My diagnosis of Severe Postnatal Depression, Depression and High Anxiety was given to me a couple of days later.

Luckily, thanks to my Health Visitor and Doctor, I got a place in the Mother and Baby Unit a day after being referred which, most definitely saved my life.  After a long slog I was then discharged from the Mother and Baby Unit  just before Christmas and then left to the care of the the Perinatal Team and local Adult Mental Health Team.

I have had the most amazing support from professionals, friends, family and people who I have never met before!

I have documented my journey on social media, including all the good the bad and the ugly! I think it’s important we break the stigma around mental health!

My friend Danielle is also taking part with me and I can’t wait to have her by my side!
