Student Climb Kili for Kids 2010 · 31 July 2010 ·

COCO’s purpose is to provide education to create the opportunity for children to break the cycle of poverty. We are currently working with communities in remote areas of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Our vision is a world where every child, everywhere has access to quality education.

Story

Hi :)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fund raising page.

In July 2010 I'm going to attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the children's charity COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas).

Founded by former Olympic athlete Steve Cram, COCO is a small charity that does amazing work with vulnerable children  whose lives are affected by war, famine, poverty and disease. Through the provision of education and healthcare initiatives, COCO aims to improve individual children's lives so they can help their communities in the future.

For more information about COCO, you can visit their website - http://www.coco.org.uk/home.

Mount Kilimanjaro, at 19340 ft, is not only the highest peak in Africa, but the highest free standing mountain in the world. It's going to be an amazing challenge!

After the climb, I'm going to stay in Tanzania in order to volunteer on one of COCO's projects for 6 weeks, so I'll see how the money that's raised is used in order to make a big difference to the lives of children living in poverty.

The target is £2800, and the money is going to a really worthwhile cause, so any donations of any amount will be hugely appreciated!
