Story
On the 22nd of April I will be running the London Marathon for Hearing Dog for Deaf People in order to raise money and promote awareness of the great work being done by this amazing charity.
Back in 2015 I spent time at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People's center in Saunderton for a work experience placement to contribute towards my veterinary degree. I was blown away by the work being done by the volunteers, trainers and everyone involved in producing these incredible dogs. During my time as a vet student I have never come across an animal making as much of an impact as a hearing dog can have in a partnership with a deaf person. Not only by alerting them to simple sounds that others take for granted, (such as text messages, the door bell, alarm clock and fire alarms) but also in companionship in a disability that can be so isolating.
It is this that inspired me run the London Marathon. Although I have been running since my second year of university I have never run further than a half marathon before so this will be a massive challenge for me! Follow my progress on my Instagram - kategroves9
