Katy's London Marathon for Pancreatic Cancer UK

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest cancer diagnoses a person can receive. Out of those diagnosed, 3 in 4 will die within a year, and 1 in those 3 will survive less than a month after diagnosis. 5 year survival rates are 7% and just 1% will survive 10 years following a diagnosis. It is a harrowing disease for both sufferers and their families.
Pancreatic cancer is very hard to detect, so many sufferers are in the late stages of the disease when they receive a diagnosis. Pancreatic Cancer UK aims to find new diagnostic methods and specific cancer treatments, as well as providing the much need support for sufferers and their families and friends.
At the beginning of November 2019 I lost someone close to me from this disease. I'm using my marathon place to fundraise for PCUK and honour her wish of continuing to support this wonderful charity.
