Story

We as a family will be joining many other families in walking 62 miles in March!

The happiest day of our lives 28/06/2024 when we welcomed our beautiful baby boy to the world. Life couldn’t have been better. At 5 days old he was immediately taken up to Nicu and wired up with multiple tubes/wires keeping him stable. We were in pieces, how could they put so many things into something so tiny!? The doctors done scans and they needed us to be sent to St George’s in London to see a specialist. A specialist ambulance trip later we arrived in a huge scary hospital over a hour away from home, met by a specialist that was waiting for our baby.

When we finally got transferred back to our local hospital, we were greeted by the same amazing team who we just broke down to. Post emergency c-section, my recovery I didn’t worry about- only our baby was safe and well. The nurses took amazing care of our son and us as parents- ensuring we got rest in the family room and when it was too upsetting to see him in the incubator, told us to take a moment outside, they would cuddle him in our absence. Leaving his bedside felt wrong, but any advice to parents- you can’t look after your baby if you haven’t taken care of yourself. Many many hugs from the staff, we knew and could see they really cared so much more than it being just a ‘job’. They ensured we could hold him whenever we as parents needed. We will forever be grateful for the staff, volunteers and ambulances that my baby needed in his first couple weeks of life.

8 months down the line, we have the most handsome happiest little boy and most gorgeous niece, that thanks to Nicu are the healthiest babies ever ❤️

Raising money will help thousands of parents that have spent time in NICU with their babies. We as parents will never get over the trauma of Elliot’s first few weeks, but we want to help other parents get the support they need to try and make it that little tiny bit easier xx
