Story

One of the 30 things I've challenged myself to do before I hit the big 3-0 is to run a half marathon. I've never been able to run. Ever. I have a dodgy ticker and so struggle with running... But I figured that once upon a time I couldn't ride a bike either. So here goes.

Last year, we lost my stepdad Mr Mike, after a long battle with brain cancer. He was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2006 and despite several operations and a LOT of treatment, he lost his fight last July, aged just 53.

Mike did lots of fundraising over the years, for Alzheimer's Society, Weston Park, Cancer Research and CLIC Sargent, to name but a few so I know he'd like that as part of my half marathon challenge, I fundraise for a cause that touched our family so dearly. Brain cancer and brain tumour research is one of the least centrally-funded areas of cancer research from the government, despite being THE biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40.

Mari, Line and Ben are all joining me in Stockholm to run the 13.1 miles too.

Dig deep folks, and remember to tick the GiftAid box so that Mr Osborne gives us tax relief on your donation. All of your money will go direct to the charity to support the great work they do.

Thanks all,

Katy x

PS For those of you sat there wondering, I still have a while before I am 30... ;o)
