Story

On the 7th November 2001  my mum passed away very suddenly from a double heart attack. We had no warning signs and she was in perfect health and had always looked after herself.  Our mum was a great example of someone who kept herself very fit and ate healthily .

After mum's first heart attack, I couldn't help but ask her if she had ever expected this to happen to her.  Although mum was hooked up to various monitors and tubes, she managed to shake her head vigorously to clearly signal to me ....  that she had not expected this to happen to her.  After speaking to the medical team, I felt a sense of satisfaction that if she survived, then there would be good aftercare for her through the NHS network and via charitable organisations.  Unfortunately, she had a second heart attack within hours of the first so we sadly lost her.

Although many years  have passed, it still feels like yesterday .

Our team called 'The Young Ones' which includes my beautiful daughter Didar, my husband and a few friends are doing the London to Brighton bike ride Tomorrow in aid of The British Heart Foundation and we aim to raise as much money as we can for this wonderful charity.

My mum was the kind of person who always put others before herself and she was a great example of 'giving' in different ways. Mum affected so many peoples lives in a positive way eg she provided a temporary home to  Asian abused girls in Derby, within our secure and happy family home. She provided shelter for many people from different walks of life. I wish to  follow her example in  'giving' and spread as much awareness of heart disease and other heart conditions as I possibly can.

Through sharing our story I hope to highlight the importance of this charity - any money you donate really can save lives.

I really appreciate you visiting my page :-)
