Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On the 7th November 2001 our mum passed away very suddenly from a double heart attack. We had no warning signs at all.

Mum was in perfect health and had always looked after herself.  Mum was a great example of someone who kept herself very fit and ate healthily.

After mum's first heart attack, we couldn't help but ask her, if she had ever expected  a heart-attack to happen to her ? (especially since she was such an advocate of healthy living)

Although mum was hooked up to various monitors and tubes, she managed to shake her head vigorously to clearly signal to us .... 'NO' .. that she had not expected this to happen to her.

After speaking to the medical team, we felt a sense of satisfaction that if she survived, then there would be good after-care for her via the NHS and through charitable organisations like BHF.

Unfortunately, she had a second heart attack within hours of the first; sadly we lost her. Although many years  have passed, it still feels like yesterday .

Our team called 'The Young Ones' which includes our eldest children and wonderful friends are cycling London to Brighton bike ride in aid of The British Heart Foundation and we aim to raise as much money as we can for this wonderful charity.

Our mum was the kind of person who always put others before herself and she was a great example of 'giving' in many different ways. Mum affected so  lives in a positive way eg she provided a temporary homes to  Asian abused girls within our secure and happy family home. She provided shelter for many people from different walks of life.

Through sharing our story I hope to highlight the importance of BHF charity - any money you donate really can save lives and provide excellent after-care

We really appreciate you visiting our page :-)
