About a year ago I decided to change my lifestyle and to date I have lost 35 kilos or 5.5 stone (see photos below) Although at times it was an absolute battle, I couldn’t be happier! The thought of undertaking a physical challenge to raise money for charity has been a major source of motivation for me through the seemingly endless lunches eating soup. I wanted to make my journey mean something to more than just myself.

It’s an Alloway family affair with my brother, Richard and Dad, Mark, joining me on the water for the entire journey.
Team Alloway are delighted to support Fulham Reach Boat Club to make healthy activity a part of the lives of children in London because we believe in sports' power to inspire!

The challenge itself is to kayak 140 miles down the Thames from Lechlade to Fulham. We expect it to take us 30-35 hours over 5 days from August 17th-21st.

Lechlade -> Newbridge (17 miles)

Newbridge -> Abingdon (23 miles)

Abingdon -> Reading (32 miles)

Reading -> Windsor (32 miles)

As well as the double kayaks being known as "divorce boats" because of how difficult they are to steer we will have to get out and carry the boats through each of the 45 locks on the river!

We will also be joined by a “wildcard” per day (a friend or family member) which will be great fun to get more people involved! The charity I have chosen to support is Fulham Reach Boat Club which promotes a fit and healthy lifestyle for children in London by giving rowing lessons to those who, otherwise, wouldnt have access.
