Story
Above is an image is of my dad, but not the image he wanted the world to see.
My dad was a very troubled soul and after three attempts he successfully took his own life because he had gender identity issues. He legally died a 'female' - Robert started his journey to introduce 'Robbyn' to the world but he felt trapped, isolated and unaccepted by society. We never got to meet Robbyn.
83 other men took their own life that week...and the week after that...and the week after that....you get the idea.
People say you do not know what goes on behind closed doors when actually we don't even know what goes on in peoples minds.
#project84 - ''Male suicide and mental health is a big issue that can’t be ignored any longer. It’s unacceptable that so many men are dying from suicide on a daily basis, yet so few people are talking about it.''
Speaking from personal experience, I know that the issue of mental health needs rapid, full and consistent support! Help me to raise awareness, help me to take a stand!
I'll be running 2 miles every day for 84 days (just over six marathons!!). The 2 miles per day represents the 2 male suicides that occur every 2 hours and the 84 consecutive days is to honour the total number of lives that are lost every week. Hence my target of £840.00.
If you're unable to donate (and even if you are) please take the time to join and share the following campaign. We are looking to encourage people to shine a light and help raise awareness on a such a taboo subject. The stats above are simply unacceptable. - http://www.projecteightyfour.com
I really do appreciate all of your support and I will be documenting my challenge as I go.
Lots of love.
Kayleigh
