Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We're a group of non-athletic regulars from The White House Pub, Hartlepool and have taken the challenge to take part and complete the Coast 2 Coast cycle ride in September.
The route is 140 miles long with climbs of over 1900 feet.
We hope to raise lots of money for The Kay Smith Fund.
The Fund was created in memory of Kay Smith who died at the age of 37 in January 2006 after a year-long battle against Breast Cancer.
It was Kay's dying wish that she would help others, who found themselves in the same situation she was in.
Kay's dedicated family and friends have done exactly what she wished - after lots of fundraising events, the fund have donated more than £100,000 to Hartlepool/District Hospice and are currently funding the recruitment of a child bereavement counsellor.
The Service has helped more than 100 children who have had to deal with the devastation of losing loved ones.
Here are some comments received from children who have used the service:
"I know it's not my fault that my nana died"
"I have learned that grief is a long process and its ok to feel how I feel, it's all part of grieving"
"I will miss my time with my counsellor and would like to say a BIG thank you"
"I will always remember doing my dad's memory box and talking"
Some of the comments received from parents of children who have used the service:
"I think my son knows he has lost his mam now, and he can move on and life will not stop. Thank you for your help"
"Thank you, I have got my son back"
"An invaluable service which really helped my child to understand the grieving process and how he was feeling"
It costs £15,000 per year to fund one part-time Children's Bereavement Counsellor ... Please help us, to help Kay's fund achieve this years target.
