Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page which I have set up solely to fundraise for Nottingham Children's Hospital which many of you will know is close to my heart, and why.

But it's not about me, this hospital cares for over 40,000 children a year with 116 beds for children from 0-18 years old. Some are in and out and it's an overwhelming experience that I know parents for sure don't want to ever go through again. And others are there for months. I've met two parents who have lived here 18 months. I say lived here because that's what you have to do when your child is unwell, you have to live in hospital on a camper bed or a recliner by their side. The strain it has on their relationships, their work, their home, their bills, all for the love of their child that really doesn't deserve to be going through it. It is unpleasant, it is scary, it is the last place you want to be. To try to make it better, I'm joining in to fundraise for the Nottinghams Children's Hospital in hope that more funding will make life easier for those poor babies, and the parents too.

The BIG appeal aims to
"provide specialised diagnostic equipment to treat sick children and improve outcomes for them, whether they are battling chronic illness or facing a life threatening cancer diagnosis"
and is also
"helping provide families with in-hospital facilities so that mums and dads have a comfortable home from home if they ever have to stay in hospital to be close to a sick child while they are receiving care."

I've had people stay with me in hospital with my 9 months old son and they all say that no matter how much I explain and how much they empathise, you do not understand the difficulty living in hospital until you've actually had to stay there - and thats for one night!

Donating to Nottingham Children’s hospital will help fund things that make having a sick child a little more bearable, from sensory toys (which costs a bomb), to TVs (a lot of children on these wards don’t have this luxury to distract them from being prodded and poked), to an extra fridge or a freezer for parents, or a washing machine or kettle that works. It’s not a lot to ask for but it all adds up in costs and yet it can make a huge difference to people in a really awful situation. There are new parents in shock, babies fighting for their life, single parents struggling alone, teenagers that want nothing more than to be normal but are missing out on everything being in hospital. If you don’t and you’re curious, check out www.kayteejones.com

Please give generously, and if you can't - then something is better than nothing.

Do a good deed today and I'll take the fall for it :P
