So far during the COVID-19 pandemic, KCAH (Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness) has helped 60 people off the streets and into safe self-isolation. Staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to help support these highly vulnerable people with complex needs.
This Sunday 26th April, thousands of runners were due to take part in the 26.2 mile London Marathon. But it's been cancelled due to COVID-19, along with many big fundraising events. This will have a major impact on charities like KCAH at a time when we are supporting more people in desperate need than ever.
But we are fighting back!
KCAH Staff and Supporters are joining forces for the #KCAHTeamChallenge. It's part of The 2.6 Challenge which kicks off across the UK this Sunday, the 26th April. The idea is to set yourself a simple challenge based around 2.6 or 26 (sticking to rules on social distancing and permitted daily exercise!).
WHAT IS TEAM KCAH DOING?
So far, members of Team KCAH have pledged to do the following on Sunday 26th April:
- Run 2.6 miles.
- Take part in a community Marathon.
- Do 26 cartwheels.
- Complete 26 press-ups.
- Eat 26 Easter Eggs in 26 minutes (mini eggs, surely? Maybe they were joking!!)
The aim of The 2.6 Challenge is to raise a huge, central pot of money to save charities like ours, at a time when we are facing a major down-turn in giving due to the impact of COVID-19. KCAH stands to raise a significant amount through this UK-wide initiative – participating charities receive a relative proportion of the central fund, which could be massive!
We simply can't carry out our work with highly vulnerable people in housing crisis without you! So please dig deep and donate as much as you can via the #KCAHTeamChallenge JustGiving page and don't forget to share this link far and wide!
Or set up your own 2.6 Challenge JustGiving page in aid of KCAH and message us before Sunday so we can virtually cheer you on!
