Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I love a good night's sleep in a warm, comfortable bed and take it for granted than I have a home to go to at night. I also feel very strongly that in a prosperous country like the UK, homelessness should not exist. However too many people fall through the cracks, whether it's through poor mental health, substance abuse, or any number of catastrophic events.
I went through Brighton station recently, early on a Saturday, and was appalled at the number of young people begging for breakfast. I bought one young man a toasted croissant and a cup of coffee (how very middle class, but this is what he wanted) and he cried with gratitude.
This was the final straw for me, so I'm going to be sleeping in a field (OK, on a cricket pitch) in Manchester, in October. I am also trying to raise a minimum of £1,000, hopefully much more.
Last year an average of 236,000 people were homeless in the UK, with 9,100 sleeping rough on the streets. That figure is forecast to quadruple in the next 25 years unless urgent action is taken.
Please give generously, and hopefully help some less fortunate than ourselves get a good night's sleep as well.
Thanks for your support!
