The DFSG helps families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting condition mainly affecting boys. The condition results in decreasing mobility and muscle strength with limited life expectancy (usually to mid-20s). We provide a helpline, support, and organise social events.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In March 2020 we lost my nephew Joe  to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of just 24. DMD is an incurable terminal illness found in 1 in 3500 boys. Often diagnosed around  the age of 4 with an average life expectancy of 26. There is no current cure.

Losing Joe was devastating. He was an amazing, happy and talented young man. The Duchenne family support group were incredible, offering continued support throughout and were always there for Joe's parents and the wider family. But like many charities, they are small and need our help to keep going.

Thank you for your support. Every penny will keep me going 👍
