Our Breast Cancer fight and the Support for Research and care.
So hello everyone and if you don’t know me my name is Keely Beighton - I am a 40 something 😉mother of three . I have several small businesses based in Sheffield
Never Average Marketing Ltd https://neveraveragemarketing.com
And founder/creator of Yorkshire Information Point . http://yipmedia.co.uk/
Plus Pizza A Mano a street food business who make delicious Pizza 🍕
So life can be and is a little busy / crazy at times however this challenge and especially this charity is something very deal to my heart and my family’s, as back in 2002 we faced the biggest challenge of our life’s.
My mum discovered that she had breast cancer at the very young age of 47.
Whilst it was totally devastating for the whole family , it was in parts a total blessing.
My mum was part of a research programme in Sheffield at the time looking at starting the mammogram programme at the much earlier age of 45 years old for women in the UK. Being part of the research programme , truly saved her life .
The final mammogram discovered just after her 47 birthday discovered the cancerous lump which was deep in her nipple duct . The lump would more than likely never have been detected and not at all visible upon self examination, until perhaps years later. In fact we’ll all never forget my mums Oncologists , clearly stating that had the cancer been given time to grow further , and perhaps been discovered in her first mammogram on her 50th birthday - 2 years later ! The outcome would have been terminal.
We feel my mum had a guardian angel during that time , and is very lucky to have been on the research programme . I personally had just given birth to my first son and my mum’s first grandchild less then a week previous to the life changing new’s and mums diagnosis . So whilst it was perhaps one of the most difficult times in our life’s , we still managed to feel totally blessed and gained courage to fight and be strong . That’s why today we want to celebrate my mums cancer fight and celebrate life , and to always be grateful and totally thankful. My mum has been cancer free for 20 years and I’m so proud . My mum is definitely my inspiration in life and has also worked in NHS for over 45 years . Mum was due to retire in the March 2021 and stayed on to work through the COVID19 pandemic , and mum worked tirelessly during the pandemic, she is clearly a selfless person . I am so proud to call her my mum, she's truly awesome . I want to therefore celebrate her fight and all people touched by Cancer and especially breast cancer . I will be supporting Breast Cancer Now . |
