Back in February this year my wife and I were blessed with the birth of our first child .... a little baby girl named Maisy. Unfortunately when she was born she became very ill and was transferred to Norfolk & Norwich NICU Department for life saving treatment.

This was an incredibly difficult time for us, but from the moment we walked through the door all the staff in the NICU department made us feel welcome and settled.

As we'd come a very long way from home the department arranged for us to stay on the ward for the duration of Maisy's stay. This was totally invaluable and enabled us to stay with Maisy as much as possible. Everything from the day room, through to the free tea and coffee and somewhere to 'take five minutes away' helped so much.

Maisy received round-the-clock treatment, and had it not have been for the 110% dedication every nurse and doctor gave to her during her stay I do belileve she would not be with us today.

Only after 6 days Maisy was discharged from the NICU Department and we were heading down the road for a life-long journey that we as parents are looking forward to every second ........

This is a very shortened version of what we went through and a very basic insight into why I am willing to push myself to raise money for the NICU Department at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital.

Please remember that although based in Norfolk, the NICU Department looks after very sick babies from many different counties.
