Story

We need you, more than ever, to support us so we can continue our work. Every penny raised by you, our amazing supporters, will help deliver our ambitious plans to transform our society into one that truly works for autistic people.

On a personal level World Autism Acceptance Week is important to me because  of the journey myself and my family have been on with my daughter having ASD. Autism is now a lot more well known than it was as little as 2 years ago. People’s understanding of it and how it effects peoples life's is still in its infancy

When we are out I still see people looking at Abi when she gets upset over something people might think is the most trivial matter, but to her it could mean the world. I see them judging her, and me and my partner as though we can’t control her or we have a brat of a child.

This is where Acceptance Week comes in and why it has changed its name from Awareness. People being more acceptive of people with Autism’s behaviours and traits will help them be able to be themselves, not to shy away from the world due to fear of being singled out as being different.
