Keith's Helping to rebuild Bachchala Devi School, Nepal

Help rebuild Bachchala Devi School, Nepal · 26 January 2017
In April 25th, 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal near the capital city of Kathmandu, the most devastating quake in 80 years. More than 9,000 people were killed, 23,000 were injured, and the mass destruction to infrastructure, homes, and schools was vast. Two weeks later, a second earthquake struck, furthering the loss and devastation of a country and people already traumatized.
After almost 18 months in Nepal, All Hands Volunteers has impacted over 20,000 people throughout our response and recovery efforts. A total of 1,769 volunteers from 72 countries have donated 192,980 volunteer hours toward putting families back in homes and kids back in schools in Kathmandu, Sindhupalchowk, and Nuwakot. In addition to this core focus, we have been involved in numerous community projects such as masonry training, school reading projects, water catchment systems, and more. After more than a year, the Nepali people are still in dire need. As a result, All Hands Volunteers has focused our efforts on one goal- getting the children of Nepal back to school.
I am currently in Nepal Volunteering with All Hands. I have spent the last few month building schools in Sindhupalchowk which was badly affected by the 2015 earthquake. We are drawing to the end of our project and need to support to raise enough money to complete the building and get the kids into a proper school before the monsoon. Everything you donate goes directly on our project and is spent on much needed materials for the construction site.
In Nepal a little goes a long way, so whatever you can spare will be put to good use! Here what your money can do:
10 bricks costs $2. And we will use about 15,000 of them by the end.
1 squat toilet costs $10 and we need 4.
1 sheet of plywood costs $8 and we never have enough.
1 bag of cement costs $8 and we still need close to 200.
Bamboo is $1.50 and we use it for everything, including the playground we are building in our free time.
Paint costs $7 per Liter and primer is $1.50 per liter so we can decorate the school, no one likes white walls
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page and thank you for your support!
