New Minibus Appeal for the Royal School for the Blind, Liverpool

New Minibus for the Royal School for the Blind, Liverpool · 5 November 2016
As many of you may know perhaps both of our daughters, Nicola and Olivia, went to the Royal School for the Blind in Liverpool. They, and we, loved the school. So when they contacted us asking if we could support their minibus replacement appeal the answer was, of course, "yes absolutely".
So if you too feel inclined to donate to this very worthy cause that would be great too. They now only have two very old minibuses left to use for day trips for their children. Due to the complex needs of the children, they need to have reliable wheelchair accessible minibuses and therefore each minibus can only carry 3 wheelchairs plus dedicated support staff. Their current status means that they can only ever take out 6 children who are in wheelchairs at any one time. So they are in need of at least one more minibus so that they can take a whole class out for trips. Day trips and spending time out in the community is an essential part of the educational and social experience for their children. In April 2016 they also set up a nursery which means they have more children to accommodate on minibuses for such trips and activities and therefore that is why they have launched this minibus campaign. Note that pupils come to the school from all parts of the UK not just from Merseyside. As well as being blind, many have a range of other complex learning and physical disability . Thank you for reading this and we hope you can support The Royal School for the Blind!
