World Record For Most People in a Rugby Match · 12 August 2018

Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. Our vision is that through the power of rugby every child and young person across the UK & Ireland, no matter what their background has access to the same opportunities.

Story

We are looking to break the world record for a continuous game of rugby to celebrate Haddington's 700th anniversary of getting its Royal Charter from Robert the Bruce.

Haddington Rugby Football Club has been a part of this Royal Burgh for 107 years.

The record is 442 we want to get to 700.  We need players of 5 and over, of both sexes,  to take part for 10mins minimum, and welcome all to take part by reading the rules here:

And/or donating on this page.

We also are delighted to announce that we are one of only two Clubs to gain "Hero Club" Status in the 2018 Royal Bank of Scotland Rugby Force Day,  as a result of the event.  This will bring us a range of support from the SRU's sponsor, and help to underwrite our event costs. So a big thanks to the Royal Bank of Scotland.

We are delighted to raise money for Wooden Spoon as part of the event, through this page, and through donations and profit share on the day.  This is part of our efforts as a partner Club.

Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby, funding life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland to support children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage. Research shows that 1 in 10 children in the UK and Ireland have a disability and there are 3.5 million children in the UK living in poverty. These numbers continue to rise and more and more children need our help. Our vision is that through the power of rugby, every child and young person has access to the same opportunities.
