Lands End to John'O Groates · 1 September 2021

We’re a charity in Blackpool Wyre and Fylde who aims to provide information, support and social activities for people suffering from acquired brain injuries. We also aim to support carers, family and friends. Perhaps most importantly, we offer the chance to share experiences knowing that the group members understand some of the problems and difficulties that acquired brain injury brings.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

I have been a member of Headway for 8 years, a charity that helps and brings together people who have suffered head injuries.

In 2013 I sustained a traumatic brain injury. As a result my mobility and speech was greatly affected. I, along with my family faced a difficult time. Headway supported us and we found a new way to be a family again. I cannot thank them enough for assisting with the transition from Keith then to Keith now.

I am now a committee member and see myself as the mouthpiece between patrons and comittee. Headway has been invaluable to people such as myself.

As a fund raising idea Headway suggested a parachute jump. Being in the RAF for 23 years I thought old hat, but if the truth be told, shit scared. Instead, I suggested a sponsored virtual bike ride, Lands End to John O Groats, 603 miles. We are doing it! The month of September for two weeks will see a team of Headway Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde members do just that. I ask that you might sponsor me in this endevour. I would love for you to help me to raise funds for this wonderful organisation. Your donation would help to support those who have sustained a brain injury, like myself, and their family during a very traumatic time. Headway solely relies on fundraising and donations to continue their good work. Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated by us all.  Thank you, Keith.
