Story

I have decided to enter my first running event, the Bristol 10K, in memory of my partner Jane Lovell who recently died aged just 37.

Jane and I had been together since we were 19, and she was a beautiful person both inside and out, plus an incredible mother to our 2 year old daughter Chloe.

Jane was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November, and despite an incredibly brave fight, sadly lost her short battle with cancer just two months later on 29th January 2018.

During her illness, Jane spent some of her time at the St Peter’s Hospice Inpatient Unit in Keynsham and the level of care that they provided to her whilst she was there, and also to myself whilst I comforted her, was just phenomenal.

I therefore wanted something to focus on at this extremely difficult time, whilst helping to bring in some donations for a fantastic cause. The 13th May would coincidentally also have been our 19th anniversary, so the date of the Bristol 10K holds a special place in my heart.

I will therefore be running the Bristol 10K in memory of Jane, supported by good friends Matthew Screech, Dave Leat and Lee Player, who are also running in memory of Jane and in aid of St Peter’s Hospice.

St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of our care is provided free of charge, but it costs us around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money we rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and our shops.
