Story
This year, I will be running the London Marathon with Julia Keith and Tom Hancock on Sunday, October 2nd. This will be my eighth marathon fundraising for Special Olympics. My goal is to run all of the world marathon majors for Special Olympics!
My entire family has been involved in Special Olympics Massachusetts, USA, as unified partners, coaches, local program coordinators, and athletes on the field. Jimmy has been a part of the New England Revolution Unified Soccer team, plays soccer with the Andover Stars, basketball with North Andover Warriors, power lifts with the Northeast Arc, and skis with Nashoba Shooting Stars too! Julia was a Unified Partner in soccer with Jimmy, and she and Sarah were both interns at SOMA and were also on the Games Management Team for the Governor's Academy Soccer Tournament for Special Olympics.
Sports is a powerful force where participants can shift the focus from disability to ability, from isolation to involvement, and from exclusion to inclusion. Special Olympics harnesses this power and it is at the core of everything they do. Special Olympics is truly a change organization, changing school and community culture through sport. Through the power of sports, Jimmy and all other Special Olympics athletes have the chance to play on the field, feel included, and build lifelong friendships! Please consider donating on my fundraising page in support of Special Olympics.
