Motor neurone disease (MND) describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. 

As a Speech and Language Therapist i work closely with patients with MND. I see as their speech and swallow deteriorate, sometimes pretty rapidly. I feel a huge privilege that they welcome me onto their journey and we work together to  maximise the quality of life they have left. 

The MNDA provide funding to make life that little more bearable, with counselling support, equipment, adaptations, and family support. If I can raise £450 it will pay for an Ipad and a text to speech app to help someone communicate with their loved ones. 

So I am going to cycle the coast line from Canada to Mexico in my living room, totalling 1729 miles within 31 days.
