Story
Hi Everyone!
I did it!! Just returned from the Big Apple having completed my first ever marathon. Despite all the injuries and tears (sorry Carl for being the grumpiest person in the world for the 3 weeks leading up to the race!!), we managed to finish the race in 5 hours and 2 minutes!! Thank you all so much for your overwhelming generosity. I hope we've made you all proud. I'm certainly very proud of the money we've raised for Bowel Cancer UK.
If you pledged money but haven't yet got around to donating, please do so now. And if you don't, I'll hound you til you do!!!
Many thanks for your support and good wishes. Training for London starts tonight!!
Kelly xx

When I was 18 years old, my Dad lost an 18 month battle with bowel cancer. I watched my beloved father go from being a life-loving man's man, to a weak, empty soul, reliant on family members and nurses to change his collostomy bag. If running 26.2 miles can help raise money to prevent someone else's mum, dad, son, daughter, brother, sister, go through the pain that my Dad had to endure, it will be a very small sacrifice indeed.
Bowel cancer is the the UK's 3rd most common cancer, with someone being diagnosed every 15 minutes. It is the 2nd most common cancer death in the UK. That means someone dies of bowel cancer every 30 minutes. Please help me raise funds to enable Bowel Cancer UK to carry out research to improve the fight against this horrible disease.
I was the apple of my Dad's eye, and I know he would have been so proud of me for doing this. My partner, Carl Morris, and I are trying to raise £2000 each for this fantastic charity. I realise that in the current economic climate money is tight, but the effects of the recession will not last forever. The effect on me and my family of my father's death through bowel cancer will.
I realise I'm pulling on your heart strings here, but this really is a worthy cause and as the statistics above show, this disease could effect any one of us. If you able to make a donation, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
