In 2019 the Amazon Rainforest received a lot of media attention for the surge of fires caused by humans to deforest land. This year the numbers of fires have increased again and according to WWF analysis we’re losing a football pitch size of forest every 20 seconds.

Without the Amazon rainforest our fight against climate change is lost. With the Amazon close to its ‘tipping point’ the affects of its loss will be witnessed within this century..

The Amazon Conservation Association is a front line charity that helps to protect millions of acres of the Amazon rainforest by empowering the local people and putting science and technology to work.

To raise awareness of the issues we face and to help protect the future for the next generation I am walking the equivalent length of the Amazon, nearly 3.5 million steps, by National Rainforest Day 2021. This equates to 13,530 steps a day, every day, for 255 days. You can follow my progress on Instagram @walk_the_amazon

To accomplish a personal target I’d like to raise £1 a mile (£1725) however to really help my charity I’d like to aim for £20,000. All donations, no matter how small, are great fully received. However if you want to help but can’t donate then please share.
