Story
Hello dear friends and family!
Many of you may know that I will be traveling to Nepal this March on a trip to assess and treat women suffering from pelvic organ prolapse (a condition where a woman’s pelvic floor muscles are weakened or damaged, allowing the uterus, bladder, or bowel to shift out of
their normal positions and bulge outside of the body). This condition is not often talked about but can dramatically affect a woman’s quality of life and ability to work. The WHO estimates that there are currently over 600,000 women in Nepal with prolapse.
I will be one of the surgeons on a team of healthcare professionals organized through Open Heart International, an organization that helps to provide specialized medical care to those living in developing countries. The main goal of the trip will be to provide reconstructive surgery to women suffering from pelvic organ prolapse, but our team will also be providing education for the staff at Scheer Memorial Hospital and conservatively treating women with prolapse who aren’t candidates for surgery.

The average cost to provide one of these life-changing operations is ~$300, and we aim to provide corrective surgery to 60-80 women during the two-week trip.
I am raising money to contribute to the cost of the operations for these women…anything you can give, big or small, any currency, is greatly appreciated! If you’re not able to contribute financially, we would love your prayers and support for the trip as well.
With love,
