We provide everyone with somewhere to turn when someone dies

Story

I became involved with Cruse Bereavement Services South Warwickshire during the middle of this year when I really was at rock bottom and the shock of everything that happened with James had finally worn off. I never knew how powerful shock could be on the human body. Initially, I felt completely detached and inhuman whilst probably looking and sounding well composed and amazingly put together to everybody else. It came to a point where I didn’t know where to turn or how to deal with life despite having the most amazing and supportive family and friends around me. Cruse stepped in and I truly believe my counsellor saved me (very deep but completely true).

The charity initially offers 6 free counselling sessions to those who are bereaved but my counsellor ended up having 17 with me. All they have asked for in return is a donation to the charity. I have recently found out that it costs the charity an average of £35 per session for each individual.

Sooo... I wanted to try and give them something back. I can’t afford to reimburse this amount of money (which I have calculated to be £595 (hence the target fundraising amount)) so I am going to join Team Harrison in the Red January challenge and run a minimum of 5k every day in the hope of receiving some donations (however small) for Cruse. This challenge may not sound tooooo difficult or strenuous for some but.... let’s just say I haven’t been kind to my body over the past couple of months so it will be particularly difficult for me!

Cruse is an amazing charity. I still have a long way to go (my guess is forever) but now I have certain tools to help me along the way which I would not otherwise have had. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to show my appreciation to the lady that has helped me but this is at least something.

Thank you in advance x
