Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have set myself a number of challenges in the 18 month run up to being 40...mainly as a personal kick up the bum and an opportunity to do things I've talked about and never done. It feels like a big enough milestone to celebrate and whilst I'm still young and healthy enough to attempt some of the things on the list, let's do it!

I would also like to use the opportunity to celebrate the memory of someone who won't see me turn 40 next year; our little girl and Lucy's twin sister, Vivienne Elizabeth. This isn't about sharing a sob story but it is the reason that I would like to try and raise money for Sands. We personally didn't use their services but just knowing that they were there and the great work they do was enough. We made our way through the hardest chapter of our lives by concentrating on lovely Lucy and with the support of our amazing friends and family but if we hadn't been so lucky, the fact that Sands exists for that support is fantastic.

It's always been on my mind to raise some money in Vivienne's memory and people asked us at the time about whether there was anything we wanted to remember her by. We have a tree in our garden and a memory box in Lucy's room for that, so this is about doing something positive to try and help any other parents who find themselves in the situation of losing a child.
