Story

Thank you for visiting the Peritoneal Malignancy Fund.

We use generously donated funds in a variety of ways to support important research studies and clinical trials in this rare and complex disease group and to enhance the care experience for our patients and their relatives during their stay on C2 when they attend for surgery.

Recent research has included a Phase II clinical trial into blood products utilised in surgery; participation in The 100,000 Genomes Project, which will sequence 100,000 genomes from around 70,000 people and we have now managed to sequence some pseudomyxoma cells and are doing some work on the micro-environment surrounding pseudomyxoma cells. We have also purchased a modern microscope and integrated digital camera system, which allows the production of very high quality digital photographs at a microscopic level which will be uploaded to an online international Atlas, to support with teaching and classification of these complex tumours across the international peritoneal malignancy community.

This work would not be possible without your generous donation and we thank you again for your support.

The Peritoneal Malignancy Institute (PMI) has two charity funds which sit within the main Hampshire Hospitals Charity; the research fund and the ward fund.

For example; the research fund is used for conferences, training and further research into Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.  The ward fund is used to buy equipment for the ward.

To donate to the research fund please use reference: Hampshire Hospitals Charity fund No 4643

To donate to the ward fund please use reference: Hampshire Hospitals Charity fund No 4237
