We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

My beautiful 3 year old daughter Katie was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2016 at only 18 months old. It was a huge shock to all of us as we knew very little about this horrible, painful, complicated, life changing, unfair, incurable, lifelong chronic illness.

We didn't know what to expect or what the future held and her life passed before our very eyes - would she go blind? lose limbs? would she be able to have children? how will we look after her?

However, Katie took it all in her stride, being the wonderful, resilient, brave, courageous warrior princess that she is and from the first time she had her first finger prick blood test to first time she ended up being admitted to hospital due to severe hypos caused by a simple sickness bug that most of us would be able to cope with, she has just got on with her happy little life as if nothing had changed.

And that is our wish, that nothing would be wrong with her and millions of others and that Type 1 Diabetes, and soon, in the not too distant future there will be a CURE, not a new way of treating it but an actual CURE, which is why myself and 3 very special, kind, thoughtful, understanding and loving friends, Kelly G, Kathryn and Vicky have joined together to take part in KAPOW, a superhero challenge set over 5k consisting of 10 inflatables including a 4 m high climb, an inflatable pole section, a foam pit, 10 metre long tunnels and a maze! We want to raise as much money as we can to help find a cure for this horrendous illness.

So what we ask is that if you can, please sponsor us as EVERY PENNY COUNTS, and it will go towards the amazing work that JDRF do to try and create a world without diabetes, and in the process discover new treatments and therapies to make day to day life with diabetes easier, less painful and with less lifelong side effects.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and thank you in advance for your donations x
