Story

Kemp & Kemp LLP is raising money for “The Abingdon Bridge Charity” through various sponsorship events during 2014.

The Abingdon Bridge is a charity that works with young people aged 13 – 25, and has been established for 15 years, with trained staff who offer support on any issue, big or small and all services are free. They support a wide range of young people's issues including counseling, housing and benefits, drugs and alcohol addiction, sexual health and family support.  The Abingdon Bridge also provides information on other issues such as domestic violence, emergency accommodation, education and training, employment and computer – IT training.

They are involved in Outreach work in the Abingdon area, supporting other agencies and meeting young people in the community.  Kemp & Kemp have relocated to Abingdon and are keen to become involved in the local community, by supporting a local charity and offering as much support as they can to The Abingdon Bridge by fund raising.

Kemp & Kemp have already taken part in The Abingdon Dragon Boat Race in September 2013 coming an acceptable 4 Individually and as a company, we are joining in a number of local, national and international charity events to raise even more money and to raise awareness for this very worthy cause.

Chris Wilmshurst, Henry Swailes, Steven Sensecall, Nicky Brock and Katherine Jones have all signed up for The Blenheim Palace Triathlon in  June 2014

Chris Wilmshurst has always been keen on keeping fit although over the last 10-15 years work (and age) has meant standards have slipped somewhat. So the challenge of competing in Triathlons has been timely and he is already seeing the benefits of training, having dropped several waist sizes in the past few months. The swimming leg will take him outside his comfort zone but he loves cycling and whilst not a fan of running simply treats it as a necessary evil. Chris has entered the Radley Triathlon on Good Friday as a taster for what is to come and is   doing the cycling leg in a Kemp & Kemp mixed relay team in The Property Triathlon at Dorney Lakes. Henry Swailes is continuously looking for a new challenge and a way to find his limit. After completing the Berlin, New York and London marathons within a 6 month period, raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research, Henry's next challenge is the Austrian Ironman 2014, so the Dorney Lakes and Blenheim Palace Triathlons will be good practice for him. Henry has also recently completed the Reading Half Marathon in a time of 1 hour 50 minutes in preparation for his mighty Ironman in the summer.

Steven Sensecall is a keen cyclist: he was part of a 4 man group that completed a 1,000 km, 10 day trip from Geneva to Rome. Steven and another member of the group are now tackling a 4,000 km route called Euro Velo 6. This route stretches from the Atlantic to the Black Sea and is being done in annual bite size chunks of around 500 km. so he should be able to tackle the cycling easily in the two triathlons.

Nicky Brock undertook a 9 day East African challenge along with 5 friends climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2013. An amazing experience, Nicky enjoyed the challenges of the different terrains and is looking forward to a new challenge with the triathlons.

Katherine Jones has an interest in the outdoors and enjoys running and cycling in the summer months and skiing in the winter so is looking forward to combining the cycling and running challenges in the triathlons.
