School Run (Walk/Cycle) Challenge · 14 February 2022 to 24 April 2022 ·

Kenya Thriving is celebrating its10th year with a campaign to raise funds enabling ten children of Otacho Childrens Home to attend Secondary School for four years. Education is one of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty.

Story

Jane was four years old when her parents passed away from HIV/Aids. She was sent to live with a relative who treated her badly, so it was not long before she arrived battered and bruised at Otacho Childrens Home.At the end of primary school she passed her exams and was one of only two orphans to be sponsored through four years of secondary school. Again her exam results were good and Jane was inspired to make a difference in her community by going to college to study Community Health Science and returning to work amongst them. Without family or the means to pay college fees Jane was pressured to marry, but her desire to fulfill her potential caused her to reach out to the orphanage for help. Through some amazing sponsorship, Jane's diploma course is being funded and her potential realised.Jane's start in life does not have to define her future, so with a little help, she will achieve something amazing.
