GUT (Get Up There) 2023 · 3 March 2023 ·
Every day one Nova Scotian dies from a disease that is 90% preventable. That disease is colorectal cancer.2023 will mark the 15th Anniversary of Get Up There (GUT), which raises funds and awareness to support colorectal cancer screening and prevention. Funds raised through GUT have helped the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology used to screen for colorectal cancer. In late 2022, Dartmouth General Hospital opened a 3rd Endoscopy Suite which is being used exclusively for screening FIT-positive patients, thanks to the efforts of GUT participants, sponsors and donors.
I have had family members, friends, fellow Armed Forces Members & Veterans who have participated in screening for colorectal cancer. We have discovered that early detection is critical in the diagnosis and treatment of this form of cancer. It truly does save lives!
Colorectal cancer screening and prevention is vital!
