Story

Guess our score, donate to charity, and win £500 worth of golf equipment

On the 17th June 2006 – four travellers will set out from Glasgow to play 10 golf courses broadly charted in Tom Morton’s 1994 novel – Hell’s golfer, a good walk spoiled.

Knightswood             City of Glasgow       9 holes         Par 34 Dunaverty                Mull of Kintyre         18 holes       Par 67 Carradale                 Mull of Kintyre         9 holes         Par 32 Askernish                 South Uist              18 holes       Par 67 Benbecula                Benbecula              9 holes         Par 31

Scarista Mhor           Isle of Harris            9 holes        Par 34 Ullapool                   Ross + Cromerty      9 holes         Par 35 Reay                      Caithness               18 holes        Par 69 Stromness               Orkney                   18 holes        Par 65 Whalasay                Shetland                 18 holes        Par 71

The four travellers with golfing handicaps are as follows -:

Terry Mullins (9)           Kenny Forrest (7)

Craig MacKenzie (5)       Keith MacNair (scratch)

To enter all you have to do is guess the combined number of strokes all four golfers will take over the ten courses – (if all four were to play exactly to their handicaps it would be 2177), par for four round the ten courses is 2020

There will be no “gimmies” and play will be from back medal tees wherever possible. In the event of a tie the winner will be drawn from a bunnet in Shetland

All Donations will go to Alzheimer Scotland –  SCO22315 - Recommended minimum donation £2. You can donate on line for the competition all the way through to Sunday 25th June.
