Story

Thanks for taking the time to read my page. I’ve been very fortunate to receive a gold bond charity place in the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon with Alzheimer’s Society – I can’t wait to get going raising awareness and much needed funding for them.

There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051. 225,000 will develop dementia this year, that's one every three minutes. 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia. Frightening numbers.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, they will continue to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice. And offer all the support needed for individuals to feel as safe and protected as they can at such a vulnerable stage in their life.

This cause means ever more to me, as some of you will know, my Gran suffered from dementia and latterly Alzheimer’s in the final 10 years of her life. The affects of the condition took a heavy toll on both my gran and our family, which is why it’s so important to raise funding to help those who have nobody. Plus, she’ll be having a right laugh at the thought me tearing up The Mall after 26 miles!

So the big day, April 26th 2020. If you can spare a donation for us between now and then, I’ll be extremely grateful.

Thank you
Kenny
