Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies & of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. Most of these infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.

Story

Hi I’m Lisa,

Thank you for looking at my webpage for Just Giving. I am wanting to raise awareness and funds for Group B Streptococcus, it is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection and not made aware of in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.

On June 1st.2009, I was at full  term pregnancy, my waters had broken so I got myself  off to hospital and was in slow labour. But unknown to me I was carrying the B Strep Infection which can then be carried on through labour  to your unborn baby. This is what happened to my baby Jack and unfortunately he died at birth.  Very Very sad, it would be his 10th Birthday this year, so I want to do something for him and other pregnant ladies out there that are unaware about this infection. As there is no routine test offered in the UK, I would therefore urge you to ask your Midwife about having a test or at least talk about it.

Many thanks

Lisa
