Story

Entering this race is really the confluence of two things.  Over the last 9 months I have been running and as a result I am now slimmer and fitter than at any time since I left school.  I have a long term goal to go further and run the Comrades marathon in Natal next year but the next major step is to prove to myself that I can cope with the full marathon distance.  Long standing family connections and my love of the Highlands makes Loch Ness the perfect choice.  You can read more about my running journey on my blog at www.couchpotatotocomrades.com.

With my own fitness regime progressing well, Sue and I had the news in February that she will need to undergo a Kidney transplant.  Her condition is called polycystic disease and it has already caused her to need a liver transplant - basically I am replacing her from spare parts!  Seriously, this disease killed both her mother and her grandmother and it has hit many other members of her close family.  The only charity funding research into the disease is the PKD charity so they are the obvious choice.  You can find out more about the great work they do at www.pkdcharity.org.uk.

Hopefully many will find in you to make a small donation as well and help find a better way fo tackling this disease.  Many thanks.
