At The Reading Agency we work towards a world where everyone is reading their way to a better life. From toddlers to children to young adults, prisoners and older people - irrespective of age or economic background. We believe that reading can tackle life's big challenges.

Story

Tuesday 6 May, 7.30pm–10.30pm, at the Paradise By Way of Kensal Green the Kensal Review is hosting a relaxed evening of conversation around a book we've all read. It's to support Social Book Week (4–14 May) and the work of the Reading Agency charity.

We will be discussing
By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept, by Elizabeth Smart, and you are invited the public to join us. The idea is to have a big discussion (so you'll need to read the book), where all will be encouraged to dissect it and voice opinions.

Tickets £10: this includes a drink; all proceeds go to The Reading Agency, a charity whose mission it is to give everyone an equal chance in life by helping them to become confident and enthusiastic readers. Once you've made your donation on this page, please email julietkinsman@mac.com to confirm your place. Book soon to avoid disappointment.

About the book:
Elizabeth Smart’s passionate fictional account of her intense love-affair with the poet George Barker, described by Angela Carter as ‘Like MADAME BOVARY blasted by lightening … A masterpiece’.
