We work in rural Kenya to support & empower communities; building schools and helping to maintain a quality education through the provision of school infrastructure, school lunches, desks, teacher training, student bursary schemes, water harvesting, sanitation and teaching materials.

Story

The recent political unrest in Kenya has displaced a quarter of a million people across the country, who have been forced from their homes by the violence. Many have flooded into the eastern half of the Rift Valley, where HSK's operations are centred. The result is that schools are increasingly overcrowded. Hundreds of children have joined the schools that we work with, with an average of 30 additional children per school. Because they are not on the official government lists, the school does not receive funding for these new arrivals and so they have no uniform, books or pens. For £15 per head, we can provide this for them, allowing them to integrate into school life and to continue their education with the minimum of disruption. Please give what you can to support these children. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to give money: Harambee Schools Kenya will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
