Story

The charity 'Help for Heroes' has been in the public eye a lot of late, sadly mostly due to the loss of our hero soldiers who are serving in Afghanistan. So your support is needed now more than ever to help rebuild broken lives. The reality of this horrific war was brought home to me recently at the tragic death of a particular hero, the beloved husband of my incredibly courageous and beautiful friend Christina.

On 28th February 2010, I will be running 20.6 miles cross country through the Meon Valley in order to raise money for Help For Heroes.  Those of you who know me, know I have run in the past, but I have not run this distance or anything close for some time, so this distance and terrain to me is going to be a pretty awesome challenge and will involve a lot of training and commitment. When i mentioned to a friend about my concerns as to whether or not I could actually do this - his response was as follows:

"Think of the people you are running for and what they put themselves through. Then understand they didnt have a choice. The last choice they made was to join the army and be prepared to give up their lives so we can have the life we live. How long does that 20 miles look now?!"    I think that says it all.

Your support and donations will have a two fold effect.. not only will the money you donate be going towards a very well worth charity for men and women whose courage and bravery should humble us all... but also it will spur on my training for this event and keep me motivated.   I am already motivated by the determination and bravery of these soldiers and their families..  I am so fortunate, I have my life, my family..am surrounded by people I love. I have my health and my limbs.    I know that even when it hurts, that pain is nothing compared to what some have endured.  So this is for them,  for Dayton & for Chrissie.. xxx
