Kerrie & Crisis at Christmas

Volunteering - Crisis at Christmas 2019 · 23 December 2019 to 30 December 2019 ·
We should all have a place to call home. Across the UK, thousands of people will be without a home this Christmas.
Crisis at Christmas will bring warmth, companionship and vital services to homeless people, and a way out of homelessness for good through Crisis’ year-round services.
This year I will be volunteering at Crisis at Christmas, where 15 centres will open across the UK between 22 and 30 December offering vital companionship, hot meals, warmth and vital services including podiatry, health checks, eyesight checks and housing, education and employment advice
Could you be one of those generous people and sponsor me?
Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of year for someone cut off from family and a home. It can be an isolating, dangerous experience.
One in four homeless people spends Christmas alone, and more than 24,000 people in Britain spend Christmas sleeping rough, on public transport, or in tents. Sleeping rough is incredibly dangerous, but in winter when temperatures drop it’s even worse.
This Christmas, Crisis will bring warmth, companionship and vital services to homeless people, and a way out of homelessness for good through Crisis’ year-round services.
At our centres, for a few precious days, there is so much we can offer. Each guest who joins us for Christmas can enjoy:
• a warm welcome and good company
• advice on housing, employment and benefits
• a health check and treatment from a doctor, optician and dentist
• a chance to shower, freshen up and get essential clothing
• three nutritious, hot meals daily, including a delicious Christmas dinner
• a bed for the night if needed
• expert help with mental health and addiction problems.
Most importantly, each of our guests can also access Crisis’ year-round education, training and support. Christmas with Crisis can be their first step out of homelessness for good.
