On Saturday 19th June, Wol and I are taking part in the Round The Houses Challenge.  We are walking 36 miles in one day through the Sussex countryside, taking in vineyards, viaducts and views along the way, to raise vital funds for Roundhouse's work with young people.

The Roundhouse is a hub of inspiration where artists and emerging talent create extraordinary work and where young people, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, can grow creatively as individuals.  Believing in the power of creativity to change lives, young people engage with the arts through music, media performance projects, and are inspired to reach further, dream bigger, and achieve more. The Roundhouse believes creativity brings freedom, hope and has the power to transform lives.

The coronavirus pandemic has disproportionately affected young people and sparked a youth unemployment crisis – as a result of the pandemic it’s estimated that one million young people will be unemployed. Through Roundhouse opportunities, young people can develop employability skills, build confidence, connect with others in their situation and better understand their potential career pathways.

Wol and I are taking on the Round The Houses Challenge to make a difference to the lives of young people affected by the unemployment crisis.  Our training has started and we are getting to know parts of Sussex we didn't even realise existed. Our feet are holding up well so far - just the ankles and knees showing a few signs of wear and tear!
