Story

Hello! I’m Kerry. I’m a saleswoman, a  mother and a
keen runner from Peterborough. After years of waiting to secure a spot, I’ve finally managed to get one of the ballot places at the London Marathon for 2020, and I’m here to ask you to support me and my chosen charity – Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice - in any way you can through this monumental challenge.

Running is a bit like Marmite; you either love it or loathe it. I happen to be quite fond of it because not only does it keep me fit and help with my mental health; it also gives me a platform to take on mammoth
tasks like this and raise a substantial amount for charity by doing so.

I realise that lots of people would love to do something big (like a marathon) and raise money for charity, but not everyone can. I feel
incredibly privileged to be in a position to do this, and I really want to make the most of it and raise as much as I possibly can for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, and that’s why I’m asking for your help.

Thorpe Hall is the only palliative in-patient care unit in Peterborough, and the work the nurses there do is second to none. The incredible team offer a wide range of services to benefit and support the families of patients, as well as providing round-the-clock, life-changing palliative care to those who need it most.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t doing the marathon for myself as well, though. Since having my son, Jackson, I’ve worked really hard to try and get my fitness level back up to what it was pre-parenthood. It’s not easy juggling a career and a family, as well as regular training and exercise.
It’s been a real struggle, both mentally and physically, but I’ve achieved so much and to complete the London Marathon would be the icing on the cake.

I’d be over the moon to reach my target donation for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, so please, if you’re able to, donate whatever you can – be it £1 or £20 – and support my quest to conquer the London Marathon in
2020. Any and all donations will mean so much to me and will make a real impact on the patients at Thorpe Hall.
