Story
My motivation for riding Lands End to John ‘O’ Groats is to raise money for St Anne’s Hospice in memory of my Aunt, Lynne Lloyd, who died suddenly of a brain tumour at the end of 2011.
I am riding, with 6 friends, from the two furthest distances in the British Isles, starting at the most south westerly tip of England, and will cycle over 900 miles to the most northern tip in Scotland.
We will be cycling for 7 days, averaging 130 miles per day, and approx 10-12 hours in the saddle.
My chosen charity is St Anne’s Hospicein Newport, who looked after Lynne in her last few weeks….. ‘ Lynne was treated with loving care, respect and dignity, and the nurses and pastoral team provided incredible support to my family at a very difficult time.’ St Anne’s Hospice also nursed my nan, Nana Collier, in her last days, fifteen years ago.
I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for the hospice, as a personal thank you, and also to help with the significant funds needed to keep this cancer service, which will cost £1.3 million this year alone. Whilst they receive some funding from WAG and local Health Boards, approximately two thirds has to be raised through fund-raising.
Many thanks…..
Kerry
ps. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
