Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On February 22 2005 my lovely Dad passed away peacefully at Rotherham Hospice in a corner room overlooking Herringthorpe park, On the 21st I remember it was an exceptionally sunny day for February, my sister was home from university in huddersfield, Dad was sedated and we were just waiting for the enevitable. Mum decided we would go into town to shop for a wedding dress for Jess who was getting married in August that year, she bought the first dress she tried on, it was beautiful. We spent the rest of that day at my Dads bedside with various relatives popping in, none of us wanting to move in fear that we would not be there when he passed. The staff suported us emensely offering food and drinks, hugs and a sympathetic ear. I can remeber the strange conversation with my mum as to wether to buy Dad a birthday card for the following day, would he be here still, would he know we had bought one, would it matter if we didn't....Strage how insignificant things become so significant when faced with a crisis!!
He made his birthday.....passing away at 1.05am, he simply drifed away after a four year battle with malignant melanoma
Not a day goes by that I don't think of him in some way, wether it be looking at his Christmas tree (private joke) in my garden or not eating any Green sweets as they were his favourite.
My only saving grace was knowing his last two weeks of life were comfortable, private and very very dignified....God bless the staff at Rotherham Hospice
